Ok, so I couldn’t pass this one up.
Children may account for more than one third of those killed in the Asian tsunamis and many more are at risk from disease, aid agencies have warned. [story]
And I bet that nearly half of those killed were women! These waves, they must be so misogynistic it’s not even funny. And take a look how only a fraction of a percent of those killed were Westerners. What a racist wave. This next part is going to be in fragmented sentences to highlight certain absurdities:
Developing Nation. Large population growth. Scads of children. No organized warning system on ground. Adults know to run from wave. Kids curious. Developing nation. Lots of kids. Developing nation. Higher child to adult ratio. Wave doesn’t care who it kills. Higher statistical probability of hitting kid when more kids abound.
I hate this kind of statistics. I’m really surprised that the BBC and CNN would try to pull this emotional crap. Of course children were killed, what, was the wave some kind of selective phenomenon? It’s a tragedy, yes. But we don’t need sensationalized statistics about how those killed by the wave were 45% women, 21% gay, 99% south-asian, .04% disabled, 31% elderly, 90% below the poverty line, etc. These statistics are useless.
What are we supposed to do, start a movement to Stop Plate Tectonics? There’s one that Mother Earth will win for sure.
Let’s lock up the waves for being child-killers. I just hope that wave doesn’t try to run for office… tough campaign.
In other news, I turned off the comment system here because it was being abused by immoral spambots.
