So I got to thinking this morning while reading the Union-Tribune (weird, I know, but sometimes the people writing to the editor have interesting insight). It had never occurred to me that people illegally crossing the border into the US from Mexico threw rocks at the Border Patrol guys (and gals). This is an act of violence. Committed by non-citizens against representatives of the Federal government. What does that make them? Well, by most definitions, this is the recipe for a ‘combatant’, and acts committed by foriegn nationals against the Federal government or representatives thereof is, depending how you look at it, an act of war. So there ya go, Mr. Bush. Nobody’s stopping you.
