i’m baaaaaack
It's that time again, the time when my conscience overtakes my laziness and I blog anew. What's my defense? I've been busy. So ... um ... there. Yeah, so there.
But seriously folks, it's been a rather busy, erm, month. I came down here on the 9th of August and I've been 'on' ever since. I began with work, for RezCon, the little itty bitty division of the University that deals with Internet access in the Residence Halls. Not Dorms, mind you... Residence Halls. That wasn't too bad, getting everything set up. And then They came.
The Freshmen moved in last Friday, a flood of naievety or however you spell it. It's always amusing to watch them move in, with their dreams of perfect communities and meshing with their roommates. And then they see their room. And meet their roommate. And experience what it's like to live with fifty or so people that they've never met. And then they realize that they can't get their precious illegal music and movies as easily, and that they're suddenly subject to rules for accessing the internet. I love it.
Classes are going well. They all seem somewhat interesting so far, unlike last year with the fun Accounting debacle.
I notice that I haven't had as much opportunity to skim the news lately, as I've been doing other things. So I looked at the news earlier and realized that not a whole lot of newsworthy things are going on. Sure, there's a hurricane with the horrid name 'Frances' (meteoroligical gender identity issues?) and a siege of some kind in Russia, but Florida always has hurricanes (they never learn...) and Russia always has unstable lunatics attacking innocent people (see: Stalin, Joe). And the Republicans are in New York, constantly involing September 11th, as if their invocations have some sort of moral weight.
