just another manic monday

Well, not really.

Here's a site you all might want to check out:

image-wikipedia.gif
It's called the Wikipedia, and it's a collaborative encyclopedia compiled by thousands of netizens. It's done in blog format, and it's easily searchable. It's quite useful at times, especially if you want to look up something that isn't necessarily listed in Encarta or one of the big online encyclopedias. For more colloquial things, try the Urban Dictionary, a site along the lines of Wikipedia, but geared more towards trends and sayings.

Um, that's all for now. Look for an update later on.

Happy birthday to me…

Israel needs to stop being stupid. That's all there is to it. The only reason theres unrest is because people disagree about an idea. Why can't an Israeli live next to a Palestinian? Why does what they believe dictate that they can't live in close proximity? Israel needs to get over itself. How does the US support a country that can pass such a blatantly racist law? Why do we support Israel? Well, they do have a more promising tech sector than Palestine. They also have fancy things like buildings. But that aside, there's no reason to support them.

Seems as though flying might become a tad more invasive as the TSA begins to require more personal information (note that it's all information that can easily be faked... and since when is a telephone number an indicator of identity?) And what happens when someone who (gasp!) doesn't own a telephone wants to fly? Are they a terrorist too, just like people who have similar names to those on the shady 'watch lists'?

Oh. Today's my 21st birthday. And I'm gonna party like its my birthday. Buy me a drink or something and I'll get around to it. Also sharing my birthday:

  • Jerry Garcia would have turned 60
  • Coolio turns 40
  • Francis Scott Key would have turned 229
  • Herman Melville would have turned 184
  • Dom DeLuise turns 70
  • Henry 'Yves' St. Laurent turns 67
  • Giancarlo Giannini turns 61
  • MTV turns 22... I watch MTV now because it's the most normal thing on.
...and the rest of the people on the list, I've never heard of.

Some fun quotes, taken out of context

"And you know, cars and little turtles don't mix, unfortunately." - wired.com

"Yeah, can't walk down the street or ride a subway without hearing that incessant chatter about carbon nanotubes." - slashdot.com

"Amaze your friends, take it outside, show-off as you brilliantly hold the detector in hand and proclaim, 'Yes, we are not in a vacuum.'" - slashdot.com

"Hydrogen accounts for 70% of the barionic matter in the universe... George W. Bush accounts for 99.6% of the stupid in the universe. The rest is evenly divided between his cabinet and the country of North Korea." - 'Genda Bente', wired.com

"Inflammable means flammable? What a country !" - Dr. Nick (The Simpsons)

"If only foolishness and stupidity were fatal, imagine how much better our gene pool would be." - 'leerayno', slashdot.com

"So upgrade to Windows XP, or the 73rr0r1575 \/\/1ll win." - 'rde', slashdot.com (regarding the publicity surrounding the latest flaw in Microsoft Windows, which slashdotters say is nothing new, but is in the spotlight because M$ just inked a deal with the US Government)

Song of the day: Happy Birthday (again... deal with it!)
